Transition Program

After the success of our new transition program for Receptions last year, we will again be offering an 8 week program during Term 4, 2019 for children who are due to commence school in January 2020.

  • The program will run on Friday mornings from 9 am until 12 noon in the playgroup rooms near the hall
  • Parents are welcome to stay until 9.30am each week
  • Sarah Vincent will be the main Reception teacher in the program although this doesn’t mean that Sarah will be the 2020 teacher for those children involved. Over the term the other Reception teachers will be involved, and Sarah will also be assisted by support staff.
  • Each day the children will need to bring a fruit or vegetable snack, perhaps a slightly more substantial snack, a drink bottle and a hat.

Our new program is an opportunity to meet families and for children to spend time with the Reception teachers in order to build relationships with those commencing school in January 2020.

Because of the importance of these skills, sessions will focus on further developing children’s rich oral language, with literacy, numeracy and science opportunities for the children to explore.

Due to the need to organise staff, families will need to register children for these Friday morning sessions. There will be a small fee charged to cover staffing and materials of approximately $50 for the whole term (8 weeks) or $7 per session. This will be invoiced to each family.

Student Information forms will need to be completed prior to commencement of the program.
